Common support questions

Quick answers to common problems.

The availability looks wrong or stale.

Check the “updated” time shown with the car park. ParkRide Planner uses Transport for NSW open data, and the public reading can lag actual conditions. Availability is guidance rather than a guarantee.

Why does the typical fill time differ from today?

The typical time comes from recent matching weekdays. Today's car park can fill earlier or later because of demand, disruptions, events and other conditions. The app shows today's result and the usual pattern separately.

Why am I not receiving parking notifications?

Check that notifications are allowed for ParkRide Planner in your phone settings, then confirm the schedule is enabled in Alerts and has not been snoozed or stopped for today. On iPhone, also check Focus settings. On Android, check that the app's parking notification category is enabled. Your phone needs an internet connection to receive updates. Delivery also depends on current parking data and Apple's push service on iPhone or Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android. In current TestFlight and Android test builds, also turn on Send Notifications in Alerts. Lock Screen monitoring is a separate choice.

Do I need to open the app each morning?

Scheduled monitoring is being tested in TestFlight and Android closed testing. The public iPhone app still requires you to start monitoring manually. In the test builds, on iPhone with iOS 17.2 or later, enable Lock Screen monitoring for your schedule and allow Live Activities. ParkRide Planner can ask iOS to start one at the beginning of each scheduled window, without you opening the app first. Apple's push service may delay or miss the start, especially without a connection; open the app during the window if it has not appeared. On iOS 17.1 or earlier, open the app to start monitoring manually. Scheduled monitoring is set to end with your window; push delivery can delay the iPhone's end update. Parking messages have their own setting. On Android, a saved schedule can also start monitoring without opening the app when Google push delivery is available and notifications are allowed. It uses an ongoing notification; Android 16 may promote eligible notifications as a Live Update. Your phone decides whether it appears on the Lock Screen and whether it is promoted. If it does not appear, check the app's notification permission and your Lock Screen settings, or start a manual monitor from the app.

How does manual Lock Screen monitoring work?

Tap Monitor on a car park's station page to start one manually. On iPhone, it appears as a Live Activity when Live Activities are allowed. On Android, it appears as an ongoing notification when notifications are allowed. A manual monitor runs for up to two hours unless you stop or dismiss it sooner. It is separate from your schedule and does not change its settings.

Why does a car park show limited or no guidance?

The app does not guess a pattern when there are too few comparable weekdays, gaps in the Transport for NSW data or an unreliable counter. You may still be able to use the live spaces while more history builds.

How do I restore Supporter?

Open ParkRide Planner Settings, find Support ParkRide Planner, and choose Restore Purchases while signed in with the Apple Account used for the subscription. Family Sharing access can also be restored when Apple reports a valid family entitlement.

How do I manage or cancel Supporter?

Manage Supporter through the store where you subscribed. On iPhone, open Settings, select your name, then Subscriptions. On Android, open Google Play, select your profile, then Payments & subscriptions and Subscriptions. Choose ParkRide Planner to manage or cancel renewal. Use the same store account that made the purchase. Access normally continues until the paid period ends; the store shows your expiry date. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Apple cancellation help · Google Play cancellation help.

Does ParkRide Planner reserve a parking space?

No. The app helps you assess supported car parks before leaving, but it does not reserve or guarantee a space.

Who handles Supporter payments?

Apple handles iPhone subscriptions through the App Store. Google Play handles Android subscriptions, including purchases during closed testing. An ordinary Android tester who confirms a Supporter purchase may be charged AUD 4.99 per year. No purchase is required to test the app, and you should not buy Supporter just to participate. ParkRide Planner does not process card details itself.

Is the Android app available?

Not publicly yet. Closed testing is under way, and we are hoping to launch publicly on Google Play in November 2026, depending on how testing goes. This is a target, not a firm promise. See the Android app and testing options.
